WONDERFUL WEEKEND

Chanel No5

It’s the end of September, and fall as we know it is slowly creeping in. Even those of us living in the hottest region on Earth can feel it.. slightly cloudy skies, breezy nights and just an overall change in the atmosphere.

In other news, October is just around the corner (literally). And you know what that means? Just in case you don’t: It’s that my birthday is in less than 2 weeks.. Don’t know if I’m excited or grieving. Probably the latter.

Oh well, enjoy the links!

Everything in life… Organized!

LOVE THIS LOOK: PRINTS ON JEANS

Street Style - NYFW

I completely love this super chic look! The heels upgrade the outfit and the t-shirt keeps it casual. But wow can we talk about those jeans? Keeping up with the rolled pants trend.

WHICH MODEL OFF DUTY ARE YOU?

Model Off Duty - Net a Porter Newsletter

Net-a-Porter did this compilation of how to dress like a “model off duty” in one of their latest newsletters. I liked it so much I had to post it here.

So which one are you? Are you an Arizona, Joan or Natasha?

Julie Rode, Maria Palm Lyduch and Solveig Mørk Hansen, frolic in the forest in Elle Denmark’s beautiful April 2011 editorial. Photographed by Signe Vilstrup, it is so dreamlike and fairy tale-ish.

Don’t you just love the beautiful floral head accessories and dresses they wore? It reminds me of the end of summer, beginning of fall - even though it was published in April.

See the full editorial at Fashion Gone Rogue.

LOVE THIS LOOK: COLOR BLOCK

color block skirt - Late Afternoon

This is a super chic way to wear the color blocking trend. The color palette goes really well together: black, white and yellow are a winning trio!

This is definitely something work appropriate, even if you work in a “frumpy” office, and it’s also something stylish to wear out to dinner with friends.

TREND: ROLLED PANTS

Zara pants

Zara pants

Spotted at the Spring Summer ‘11 runways and thankfully available at all high street stores. Easily adaptable to your existing straight cut or skinny pants. The key is to roll them until they hit just above the ankle. And don’t make them too perfect – they’re best left slightly uneven.

MODA OPERANDI PRIVATE VIEWEING EVENT

IMG_2516

My Khaleejesque colleagues and I were invited to a private viewing event for Moda Operandi at the Presidential Suite at Missoni Hotel on Monday September 19th.

Moda Operandi is an online members-only, luxury fashion retailer founded by Áslaug Magnúsdóttir, former Head of Merchandising at Gilt.com, and Lauren Santo Domingo, Contributing Editor for Vogue US.

The site allows members to pre-order items (ready-to-wear, accessories, jewelry, shoes, bags) straight from the runway a mere hours after the show!

Moda Operandi

At the event, we were served a Missoni color palette of elegant hors d’oeuvres and a dinner buffet at the terrace.

Each guest was given a $250 gift voucher to purchase from the site and before we left, a raffle was held and the MO ladies pulled out 3 random numbers and the winners won tickets to New York Fashion Week February 2012!

Read the full coverage HERE.

LOVE THIS LOOK: 70’s MIDI DRESS

Ribbes 70s dress - Asos

If you want to work the 70’s look, but don’t want to look like you literally stepped out of that era, this is how you do it. This wine-colored super affordable Asos dress looks so stylish paired with those camel boots. I need to recreate this look this fall.

Love this print by Whimsy & Spice. It’s both cute enough to frame and hang in the kitchen, as well as useful for those who like to cook!

CAN YOU IDENTIFY THESE CANDY BARS?

Candy Bars

I think I spotted Mars and Snickers and a Bounty bar. The rest are a mystery to me! And I call myself a foodie (sheesh that’s embarrassing!).

Sorry I don’t know the original source to this, but I got the image via Cup of Jo.

Can you identify these candy bars from their insides?

All it is And ever was - Cody Trepte

I recently came across works by artist Cody Trepte. His work is…. interesting to say the least. Conversation starters that’s for sure.

The series, “All It Is, And every was, And ever will be”, is very beautiful. It’s almost as if looking at it, you’re deep in outer space and everything is so quiet. I LOVE black skies and sparkling stars!

LOVE THIS LOOK: THE TRENCH

Trench Coat - fash n chips

I’m not a fan of trench coats in general, and I don’t own one. However, when they’re styled really well like this lady did to hers, they make me consider getting one! Plus, love the rolled up sleeves and skinny jeans.

SHOP FALL'S TOP TRENDS

THE OUTNET.COM

Shop Fall's top trends including super hot leather jackets and shimmery tops at The Outnet. I love The Outnet because I can get all the big designer brands from Net-a-Porter but at AMAZING prices. It's the best way to splurge on designers without feeling guilty. I use it to get timeless items like a leather jacket or black pumps. And they have amazing returns/exchanges policies.

Dazed & Confused’s colorful July issue editorial, In Bloom, just stopped me in my tracks. It combines two of my favorite things in the world: fashion and flowers! I don’t know if this was shot in the famous tulip fields in the Netherlands, but if it was then this is… BRILLIANT!

Styled by Katie Shillingford, modeled by Lisanne de Jong  and photographed by Viviane Sassen, it is such a thrilling work of art to see.

I am in love with the layers of clothing and of course the colors upon colors in each and every single image. L-O-V-E.

BREAKFAST BANANA SPLIT

image

You may or may not know of my love for Banana Split (proof here) so I was super delighted when I found a breakfast version of it!

Instead of vanilla ice cream, you use Greek yogurt (I’d add a teaspoon of vanilla to it), and instead of chocolate sauce, you add some strawberry or raspberry jam. Top it off with granola, sliced almonds or berries!

Et voila, Breakfast Banana Split!
