ENSEMBLE: THE STYLE OF MUSIC

Ensemble: The Style of Music

I’m so impressed with Moxy Creative House. I can’t get enough of their work! This project Ensemble: The Style of Music, dissects the outfits of famous musicians and presents them in a series of prints, drawn “cartoon style”.

I had fun trying to guess each outfit’s musician. There are individual musician prints or a multi one like the above.

FRAMEWORK: EYEWEAR MADE FAMOUS

Framework: Andy Warhol

Framework: Ghandi

Framework: Kanye West

Moxy Creative House have blown me away with their super cool designs. For their project Framework, they created prints of eyewear made famous by well-known public personas such as Andy Warhol, Ghandi and Kanye West.

“The Ye’s”.. LOL.. That cracked me up!

Visit their site to see the full series of Framework prints.

BOOK REVIEW: CHASING HARRY WINSTON

                  Chasing Harry Winston

Chasing Harry Winston, is a novel by Lauren Weisberger (The Devil Wears Prada, Everybody Worth Knowing). It tells the story of 3 best friends in New York: Emmy, Adriana and Leigh. Emmy, a serial monogamist, is single again, much to her chagrin. Adriana is a gorgeous Brazilian heiress and socialite with everything anyone could wish for. Leigh is a successful editor at one of the biggest publishing houses in the country. Approaching thirty, Emmy and Adriana make a pact one day to completely change their lives in one year, which they find is not as easy as it sounds. Leigh, meanwhile has her own problems that she's not willing to share with the other two.

I chose to read this book because I loved Everybody Worth Knowing (5 stars in my opinion). But this book is a far cry from its predecessors. And not in a good way. It was straight-forward, yet predictable. Very clichéd, very meaningless, and very boring. There was no climax to the story, and it sort of ended just as easily as it started. I found that the last 30 pages were the most interesting. That says a lot, by the way.

If you've read any of Weisberger's previous books, then this will surely be a disappointment. If you haven't read any of her books, this will still be a disappointment.

Book Rating 1 star

DIPLODOCUS CLOTHES RACKS

DIPLODOCUS I

DIPLODOCUS is a line of minimalist yet design savvy clothes racks. They come in four versions (2 mountable and 2 freestanding) and would look awesome to hang clothes in! No need for annoying hangers, because the hangers here are built in.

I think they would look superb in hotels, boutiques, restaurants cloak rooms, fitting rooms, and also in modern homes. The stainless steel frames are scratch, water and corrosion resistant.

The clothes racks have ample height and hanger spacing that allows for long and thick garments. You may also use them to hang scarves and umbrellas. The mountable versions are custom-made in order to fit your closet.

My favorite is the Diplodocus I design (because it reminds me of a dinosaur for some reason) and the two mountable ones. So chic.

MAPPING STEREOTYPES

Europe According to USA - Mapping Stereotypes Europe According to USA

Europe According to the Vatican - Mapping Stereotypes Europe According to the Vatican

Europe According to Gay Men Europe According to Gay Men

Oh my God this is too funny.. and too racist & stereotypical, but we’re not judging are we? Mapping Stereotypes: The Geography of Prejudice, is seriously one of the craziest projects I’ve seen in a while.

Created by graphic designer and illustrator Yanko Tsvetkov, the countries on the map are labeled using a stereotype as viewed by another country or another party such as “Gay Men” or “The Vatican”.

Check out the rest of the maps in the series (there’s more - I just put up my favorite three).

BRANCH JEWELRY DISPLAY

Branch Jewelry Display Stand

Like most women, I have problems organizing my jewelry and accessories. I bought a long stainless steel stand, but my necklaces kept getting tangled or falling off. I have a big good quality leather jewelry box, where I store my important pieces, but I keep it inside my closet because it takes up a lot of space on my vanity table.

I’d love to have something that is just as useful as it is attractive. This Branch Jewelry Display stand would make a perfect room decoration. Functional + beautiful. Bonus: It’s a DIY project!

LET’S BE NOMADS

Liu Wen by Greg Kadel in Wild Dreams - Vogue Germany Nov 2010 - 3

Liu Wen poses in an amazing, amazing, AMAAAZING editorial called “Wild Dreams” photographed by Greg Kadel for Vogue Germany. I am absolutely in love with the nomadic styling (and all that color!) by Katie Mossman. Layers,  chunky bracelets, big huge rings the size of rocks, stunning fur, fringe and awesome scarves. I wish I had the guts to dress like this!

I found this beautiful photo blog called LASHES. It’s full of pretty pictures of fashion, beauty, makeup, models, celebrities (and sometimes objects) – but it emphasizes on “amazingly lush eyelashes”.

HAPPINESS BOOKMARKS

imageimage

I’m loving these printable Happiness Bookmarks. Each of the 10 bookmarks acts as a small reminder of simple behaviors that can lead to “feeling more happy and satisfied with life”.

Right now I don’t have a bookmark. I use anything to mark my pages (business cards, random papers on my desk, tissue paper). These ones are interesting, efficient and good looking, of course!

FACEBOOK MAGAZINE

Facebook by Caitlin Keegan

While browsing the work of artist Caitlin Keegan, I found this hilarious illustration that pokes fun at Facebook (I swear, “pokes” was not meant to be a pun). I guess this is what a Facebook celebrity/tabloid magazine cover would look like.

UNTITLED

Tears

I’m sorry for the sudden absence but I was going through a rough time the past week. Last Friday, my grandmother was admitted to the hospital and a few days later, on November 29, she passed away. It feels surreal writing about it. The event feels like a blurry dream (or nightmare). It still hasn’t registered fully in my head.

I miss her already. More than anyone can imagine. But I’m thankful for the wonderful, glorious times I was blessed to have had with her. Those memories will stay with me forever.

I’m not ready to share a post about the whole ordeal yet, but since my blog is my personal space, I thought I’d let you know what’s going on.

May your lives be filled with unlimited amounts of happy, joyous, amazing moments with your loved ones.

PS. Posting may be sparse and irregular for now, but it will go on. Just like life.
