Chasing Harry Winston, is a novel by Lauren Weisberger (The Devil Wears Prada, Everybody Worth Knowing). It tells the story of 3 best friends in New York: Emmy, Adriana and Leigh. Emmy, a serial monogamist, is single again, much to her chagrin. Adriana is a gorgeous Brazilian heiress and socialite with everything anyone could wish for. Leigh is a successful editor at one of the biggest publishing houses in the country. Approaching thirty, Emmy and Adriana make a pact one day to completely change their lives in one year, which they find is not as easy as it sounds. Leigh, meanwhile has her own problems that she's not willing to share with the other two.
I chose to read this book because I loved Everybody Worth Knowing (5 stars in my opinion). But this book is a far cry from its predecessors. And not in a good way. It was straight-forward, yet predictable. Very clichéd, very meaningless, and very boring. There was no climax to the story, and it sort of ended just as easily as it started. I found that the last 30 pages were the most interesting. That says a lot, by the way.
If you've read any of Weisberger's previous books, then this will surely be a disappointment. If you haven't read any of her books, this will still be a disappointment.
