CLOSET CANDY FALL 10 LOOKBOOK – BEHIND THE SCENES

Behind the shot - Harper's Bazaar Arabia

The Closet Candy Crew were sweet enough (no pun intended) to send me these behind the scenes photos of their lovely Fall ‘10 Lookbook.

I know for a fact that photo shoots are extremely hard and they’re ‘serious business’. However, they’re so much fun if you’re working with a great group! I know I wouldn’t mind working in such a wonderful location either!

Check out more behind the scenes photos here.

A ROOFTOP LUNCH

IMG_9076

Yesterday, I was invited to have lunch at my friend Sara’s house to celebrate her birthday. She told us to “dress well” since it was going to be outdoors. I assumed it was going to be by the pool or in her garden.

I was pleasantly surprised when she told us to take the elevator up to the roof. I’ve never had any meal on a table on the roof! I was blown away by the elegance and lovely setting! There was a single long white table there, decorated with various bottles filled with plants and leaves. On the far side of the roof, a barbeque station was set up by Munch, and a chef was grilling goodies for us. Another table was set up with the most delicious salads I’ve ever tasted! To top it off, two waiters were there to serve us the food continuously.

We ended the feast with a yummy cake (half pistachio – half vanilla) from November Bakery and chatted until sunset. The weather was perfect: sunny but with a light wind. The pictures speak for themselves. Though, I can’t say they’re better than actually being there!

Ahahahaha! I cannot stop laughing at these cleverly designed WTF? posters. For someone who has had her fair share of “WTF” situations, I can find humor in these designs (and appreciate them!).

You MUST check out the whole series at Behance.

AAKOSET SHELF & ROOM DIVIDER

AAKKOSET Shelf and Room Divider

I am a huge book lover (if that wasn’t obvious enough) and one thing I really love to do is check out cool bookshelves. I have a simple, yet large, bookcase in my room, so it’s all about how I organize the books and little knick-knacks on it.

The AAKKOSET bookshelf is a dream, because not only does it function as a bookcase, it can also serve as a room divider (its height is 185 cm). It can hold books, CDs, magazines and many other objects. It would look just as good in a child’s bedroom or playroom as it would in an adult’s modern style office or apartment.

The AAKKOSET is available in black, blue, green, orange, red, violet, white and yellow.

What would you do with it?

FEELING HAPPY

Pink Flowers - Alya's Flickr

This vacation has been a really nice (and much needed) one! The weather has been absolutely lovely, and every place I go to is crowd-free!

I had originally planned to travel with my family and relatives, then half the group cancelled, including me. The ones who did travel are having a blast (regret!! jealousy!!) but I must admit that it’s just as wonderful here..

Sunny, blue skies and cool breezes can make even the grumpiest person a happy and bouncy one..

EID MUBARAK

Autumn Leaves Bouquet

It’s a 10 day holiday in Kuwait. For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, Eid Al Adh’ha (a Muslim holiday) fell this year between two weekends. Therefore, the whole country – well, almost – got a generous vacation!

The weather is absolutely gorgeous in the Gulf (hooray for fall!), and almost everyone is spending their time outdoors.  I hope everyone is making the best of it (especially those who are travelling).

I wish everyone a happy and blessed Eid..

I hope you’re all having a lovely, lovely time!

BOHO

Janis Lives Editorial - Raquel Zimmemann Vanity Fair

Raquel Zimmermann in “Janis Lives!” editorial shot by Craig McDean for Vanity Fair. This is a fairly “old” editorial – 2007 to be exact. Nothing splendid about the photography, but can we just appreciate the styling here? Faaaaaaantastic!! I want EVERYTHING in it, literally everything, wrapped in paper, put into bags and sent to ME. Now.

Oh, winter where art thou??

ENCHANTING EMMA

Emma Watson - Marie Claire US December 2010

Oh my God, she is such a cutieee!! Emma Watson has become one of the celebrities to watch out for. With her excellent sense of style, cute new short hair, and charming looks, she’s proclaiming a cult “It” status worldwide.

I absolutely love this picture of her in the December issue of Marie Claire US, photographed by Tesh and styled by Alison Edmond. You HAVE to see the styling. The clothes, jewelry and shoes are amaazing! Light colors and exquisite accessories. Enchanting indeed.

Check out more photos of the editorial at Fashion Gone Rogue.

ACANTHE SCHOOL OF ETIQUETTE

Acanthe School of Etiquette

Acanthe School of Etiquette & Protocol is the first of its kind in Kuwait. Last month, it celebrated its one year anniversary after its success since the launch in October 2009. With its numerous courses from everyday etiquette to professional business protocol, Acanthe has attracted a wide audience from different age groups, societies and institutions.

Acanthe has been under establishment since 2006, during which it worked in obtaining authentication from local and international entities allowing the school to be leading in its region and within global standards. The school has worked hard to customize its courses in order to teach a beautiful international code of respect, to both children and adults, to pertain to the local culture and principles. The school can also tailor-make special courses for family members, groups or corporations as well as individualized coaching in any requested subject.

“Our pride is to see one of our Little Princesses’ students or graduates joyful that she has been noticed for her poise or see a customer leave the Art of Flowers course with an arrangement that she/he has proudly and independently created” said the school owners, Hanadi Khazal and Rawan Alabdulrazzaq. They continued, “Our customers are our success. Without them, we won’t be where we are today. We promise to make every effort to constantly meet and hopefully exceed their expectations with our services and continuous launching of new courses.”

I think it’s beautiful that interest in such things as etiquette and protocol has been growing in the country. It’s so important that people develop themselves in all aspects including how they conduct themselves in public and/or with other people.
