BIKE SHOP

Urban Outfitters Bikes 2

UrbanOutfitters.com just launched a superb Bike Shop! Bicycles not motorbikes, by the way. The bicycles are made by Republic Bike, and you can choose from 2 designs: The Aristotle Single Speed or The Plato Dutch.

You can literally create your own custom bike – you choose your seats colors, handles, tire colors, frame, everything! I loved playing around with the different combinations to make a vintage-looking bike.

Prices start at $399 USD. I’m not sure if they ship internationally, but wouldn’t this make an awesome gift??

PS. The top bike is “my” Plato, and the bottom bike is “my” Aristotle. I heart.

SHOP CLOSET CANDY

One of my favorite boutiques, Closet Candy, has now opened an online shop! That’s amazing news for international readers (as well as Internet shoppers like me!) who can now shop from the hottest international designers and have the items delivered to their home.

Shop Closet Candy

They are currently accepting Cash On Delivery and Knet for local orders but very
soon (in a month or two) be accepting credit cards and shipping internationally.

Wings

A relative of mine recently opened a store, called Wings, in Kuwait. The shop has a lovely collection of Turkish Kaftans, accessories and items for the home. You can find beautiful glassware and embroidered pillows among other things.

They are open from 10 am to 1 pm, and in the evening from 5 pm to 8 pm. The shop is located in Shuwaikh Industrial Area in Al-Humaithi Complex next to Tilal Shopping Center.

SPRING/SUMMER 2010 RUNWAY FASHION TRENDS (PART 2)

image
Military

What I love most about this trend is how it literally looks like it’s borrowed from the boys. A structured khaki jacket, with pockets or lapels is a perfect example. You can dress it up or down whichever way you like. Like a glorified general.
image
Mix and Match

One of my favorite things about browsing the spring shows was seeing all these different prints and patterns mixed in a way that was so bright and cheerful. Like a child mixing his/her favorite items of clothing. This is in no way to be mistaken for a clown’s attire, though. This is pure unadulterated fun!

image
One Shoulder

This design gives new meaning to the term “giving the cold shoulder”. It’s like a two-in-one deal. You have one sleeve on can wear the simplest dress or top, but just by having one shoulder, it makes so much of a difference.

image
Tribal

Tribal is not something new. It’s been done countless times before. Too many to count, really. And usually it’s always shown on the spring runways. However, it’s still a delight to see the different takes on a Navajo print, or other tribal influences.

Underwear as Outerwear

This season, underwear worn as outerwear was a big feature in many shows. Some brands did subtle takes, for example corset details on the bodice of dresses. Others were influenced by lingerie and added lace and silk to the clothing. It’s definitely not an easy trend to wear, and most definitely not for everyone.

SPRING/SUMMER 2010 RUNWAY FASHION TRENDS (PART 1)

image

Blazers

True, this trend has been around since last season, but it’s good to know that it’s still going strong. Blazers, those key players in a man’s wardrobe, are just as essential in a woman’s wardrobe today. Take note from the runways and wear them over dresses, shorts, skirts, jumpsuits, anything really.
image

Country

When we think of country fashion, we usually think of long dresses, dusty colors, knitwear and maybe some flowers here and there. For the collections, designers were inspired by the country, but each had their own take on it. Colorful, vibrant, sexy, feminine, dainty. Definitely not your typical country fashion.

image
 Crystal Effect

I call it the crystal effect. Dazzling, light-reflecting little rocks embellished the runways in many shapes, sizes and colors. Zac Posen, Elie Saab and Lanvin gave us crystallized evening gowns. Burberry gave us a fully encrusted coat. Minimal, they were not. Show stopping, they were.

Denim on Denim

So maybe you haven’t worn denim on denim since you were a kid. And like me, you probably vowed never to do so again. Until fashion week rolled around and made it look cool all over again.

Full On Print

Remember the rule that says you should only wear print on one part of your body? Well, scratch that. This season the designers say you can wear them full on. Head to toe. Top to bottom. In every print or color you can think of. Knock yourself out.
