I HEART YOUR BLOG

I heart your blog

I was given this lovely award from darling blogger Romany. She’s such a sweetheart and has a fabulous blog which you should check out.

The rules...
1. post the logo on my blog.
2. pass it on to 15 other blogs.

I have hundreds of blogs I’d like to give this to, but I’m narrowing it down to these, an international mix of everything. Enjoy!

The Oven Experiments – My friend Budour is a fantastic cook and documents the dishes she creates. Don’t you just love the name of her blog?

A Diary of Lovely – Seriously, this is one lovely blog. Even the writer’s name is lovely: Helena!

79 ideas – Speaking of lovely blogs, don’t miss out on this one. Furniture, design, photography..

Teri Rees Wang – Photography plus poetry. Beautiful combination.

Fashion Tidbits – One of my favorite fashion bloggers. Full of fashion inspiration.

My.Shoes.and.I – Always has and always will be one of my faves.

Crispy Duck Diary – My old schoolmate “Shmii” is studying cooking in Paris. She is living my dream! Plus she’s a hilarious writer.

around the way girl – Because she reminds me so much of myself.

fashion hermit – Get lost in the wonderful world of luxurious fashion.

unruly things – A wonderful mix of fashion, photography, art, design, and nature.

Design Crush – Nourishes the design freak in me.

{this is glamorous} – Because it really is glamorous.

rockstar diaries – If you like to snoop into other people’s lives, this blog will make you an addict.

Wendy Brandes Jewelry – She makes fantastic jewellery and she is AWESOME!

zanita – Meet a model and aspiring photographer. She’s GORGEOUS and you will never want to leave her blog.

BOOK REVIEWS

Tumblr

I'd like to add a new Book Review feature to the blog. I think it's a nice addition and can encourage my visitors to read more, as well as give them an idea about a book they’ve heard about and might want to read. It can promote discussions as well.

I'm already on GoodReads, where I enjoy a big, healthy dose of book reviews and discussions (and indulge my inner literature geek) but I also really want to include it in my blog. But only if you guys want it. Well, I might do it even if you don’t want it.

Tell me what you think. Yay or nay?

DENIM LEGGINGS

Denim Leggings (I absolutely refuse to call them jeggings). I was absolutely and utterly against them. But then I saw people wearing them, and I have to admit, they weren’t so bad. In fact, they even looked good on some people. In my opinion, the best ones are those that look like a real pair of skinny jeans. If you can’t tell if someone is wearing denim leggings or skinny jeans, then that’s a good sign. Or it might mean that the skinny jeans are too tight. That, by the way is a bad sign.

Below are some of my favorite styles. (From Urban, of course)

NEW YEAR, NEW LOOK

You are looking at the new and improved Pomegranate and Patchouli. After 2+ years of blogging, and some super cool opportunities, it seems only natural that this little site gets a makeover right?

Oh and another thing. We are now officially a DOT COM.

Sounds cool right? I’ve wanted this for a while (because some people, ahem, think my blog name is long enough as it is), and I thought it was a hard thing but it wasn’t. At all. Now go update your feed readers. (You’ll still be redirected here if you don’t, but still.. update!)

The site was redesigned by Sweet Faerie designs. Carrie did an absolutely amazing job and was wonderfully patient with me. If you’re thinking of redesigning your blog, I highly recommend her.

Now tell me, what do you think? Do you like it?

Also, now that we’re on the same subject: What do you think of this blog? What do you like about it? What would you like to see more of? Let me know in the comments.

PS. There might be a few hiccups here and there, since I’m still rearranging some stuff. But everything should be finished by the end of this week.

MISPRONOUNCED FOODS

Baked Ricotta by Sweet Paul

The Stew, a Chicago Tribune blog, posted a fun article called Top 10 at 10: Mispronounced Foodie Words. It listed the top 10 words (half of which I’ve never heard of) that are most often mispronounced in the upscale food industry.

It annoys me when people mispronounce easy words, but some I have to admit are kind of confusing. I’ve definitely made a mistake or two myself. Below are some of the words from the article, accompanied by the proper pronunciation.

Bruschetta (broo-SKEH-tah)

Gnocchi (NYOH-kee)

Prosciutto (proh-SHOO-toe)

Sake (SAH-kay)

I think they also need to add:

Millefeuille (MEEL-Feuy)

Jalapeno (ha-la-PEHN-yo)

Aioli (ah-YO-lee)

Fajita (fa-HEE-tah)

Meringue (mer-ANG)

Croissant (krwa-Son)

Here’s a tip from me. When in doubt, just point to the dish on the menu and listen to the waiter say it out loud.

What do you think are the most commonly mispronounced foodie words? Or what do you find difficult?
