Last night, my family and I, including my grandmother, gathered around the TV and watched it live (8:00 pm Kuwait time). It was like we were there in person. Personally, I loved it. I thought it was fit for a King, and it was definitely the way he would have wanted to go out. The songs were beautiful, the stage was perfect, and the speeches were touching. By the way, aren’t Michael’s children beautiful? His daughter Paris broke my heart in the end.. I was sobbing!
I’d just like to comment that the media can be so brutal at times. I got online today to read about the memorial, and I was surprised at the amount of negative responses regarding it. Some people thought it was like a concert (well, it sort of was, but it was a tribute to him, so isn’t it only fitting for someone like MJ?), others commented that his children shouldn’t have been put in the spotlight. Well, he’s their father! What, you want them to hide behind the curtains during all of this? They should be there to see how much their father has touched people.
On a final note, I think we should respect someone who has passed on, and honor the dead instead of criticizing them. Let the man have his peace! When I die, I want to be celebrated, not mourned. It’s all right to mourn. In fact, it’s only natural that we mourn a loved one. But I want people to focus on the good things I did, and remember all the happy times we spent together.
How about you? Did you watch the memorial? What did you think?
P.S. Isn’t it eery how Michael’s last show was titled “THIS IS IT”? It’s like he knew this was going to be the last time he will ever perform.
