It’s all about the actors at the Screen Actors Guild Awards which took place on Sunday, January 25. Like the Golden Globes, the ceremony did not take place last year due to the writer’s strike, so I’m sure everyone was looking forward to this year. To be honest, I don’t watch the SAG award like I do the Golden Globes, Grammys and Oscars. But I like to watch the red carpet arrivals and mini-interviews with the E! channel gang. I couldn’t find pictures of all the ladies on the carpet, but here are many of them. It was a colorful sight, with very few over-the-top dresses, and much more too-dressed-down dresses. But there was a LOT of red..
America Ferrera in Vera Wang – It’s a pretty dress from this angle, but there was some extra black fabric dangling down the other side.
Amy Adams in Giambattista Valli – I love Amy Adams, and she has such a presence on the red carpet. She’s not afraid of looking glamorous. The color is divine on her, and so are the ruffles and pulled back hair.
Christina Applegate in Emanuel Ungaro – I think that over the past year, Christina has become such a red carpet hit! She knows what looks good on her, and this is a fine example. The color is gorgeous, and the style of the dress and the long chain and fabulous earrings make it look effortlessly glam.
Eva Longoria in Jenny Packham – This was my favorite dress. I have yet to see Eva make a fashion faux-pas. I like the crystal details around her collarbone and the beautiful peach/coral color. I like her retro hair, and her simple makeup.
Anne Hathaway in Azzaro – This was a plain look for Anne, who made us used to some gorgeous gowns this past year or two.
Christina Hendrick in Carolina Herrera – This woman makes big look beautiful. She looks so Old Hollywood with those curves and that hair and porcelain skin.
Jane Krakowski in Roberto Cavalli – I am not a fan of these types of plunging necklines.
Angelina Jolie in Max Azria – B.O.R.I.N.G. I’m not even going to talk about that dress, but what’s up with that grandma hairdo?
Claire Danes in Nina Ricci – It’s nice and elegant. But Claire Danes needs to be more adventurous when it comes to dressing up.
Emily Blunt in Pamela Roland – I like being adventurous, but not this much! I’ve rarely seen a sequined dress that looks good. And this one does not change my mind. Love her body though!
Diane Lane in David Meister – It’s perfect on her. She’s a beautiful woman with a gorgeous body and this dress just accentuates everything. Her hair, makeup and jewelry are perfection too.
Holly Hunter in Reem Acra – No no nooo.. Taffeta reminds me of cheap prom dresses, and this fuchsia gown looks like it is metallic with blue undertones. The fit looks perfect from the waist up, and then goes horribly wrong downwards..
Evan Rachel Wood in Monique Lhuillier – The color of this dress is beautiful! It reminds me of the ocean. It also completely flatters her skin and makeup. I wish she wore different shoes (and clutch).
Freida Pinto in Marchesa – Again, the color looks great on her, and her hair is swept up in an elegant bun. This picture makes it look like she has a thick waist, but when I saw her on TV, it was the complete opposite.
Viola Davis in David Meister – It’s the first time I’ve heard of her. The yellow is perfect against her skin, and the style is so elegant.
Jenna Fischer in Pamela Roland - This is a complete turnaround from her previous gowns. I think it’s simple, yet pretty, and I like how her dress is short from the front and has a train from the back. Her necklace is so cool too!
Jennifer Morrison in Anne Valerie Hash – She looked beautiful! Her hair was shiny and flowy, her makeup was perfect and glowing, and her dress was perfect on her.
Kate Winslet in Narciso Rodriguez – Kate is always a fashion winner in my eyes, but this is not one of my favorites. The fit and color were great on her, but there’s something about it.. I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Katrina Bowden in Christian Siriano – This is fun and playful. The color and style make it look young, and the strappy sandals make it look edgy. Yet, I think this is more Nickelodeon Awards than SAG Awards.
Kyra Sedgwick in vintage Chanel – This is a nice example of a two-toned dress. The necklace is the right accessory to wear with it. I think Kyra looks beautiful. Her hair is thick and wavy, and her makeup was cute.
Laura Linney in Michael Kors – Everything about it is perfect, but not the material. Also, her face looks a bit pale. It needs more makeup.
Lisa Edelstein in Reem Acra – This is one of the best looks I saw. The dress looked sort of Grecian, and it was accessorized with some great silver jewelry and purse.
Marcia Cross in Carolina Herrera – This dress was the most glamorous one on the red carpet. I would have liked it more if the collar didn’t have that black ruffle detail. Also, It looks a bit heavy around the thighs.
Marisa Tomei in Elie Saab – I wish she would have worn this for the Golden Globes. It looks so pretty and fresh, especially with that silk flower on her shoulder.
Penelope Cruz in Azzedine Alaia – Although it’s not something I would pick for myself, it looks beautiful on her.
Taraji P. Henson in Herve Leroux – This look shows you that simple is always beautiful. She looks like a goddess. Oh and I love her hair!
Teri Hatcher in Monique Lhuillier – Hmm.. what can I say? It has all the makings of a great dress (color, material, style), but it doesn’t look that way. Her hair was styled into a faux short style. It looked awful from the back and on the side.
Tina Fey in Brian Reyes – What is that fabric? It looks parts psychedelic and parts eye-numbing! It’s also not fitted well across the chest area.
